Against the 150,-€ tickets-event in France

Unread postby Alizee » November 6th, 2011, 3:36 pm

Just a little post to explain my disagreement about the packages sold for the french dates.
To what we were explained, we think it's just abusive to ask 150,-€, plus the price of a normal ticket to -let's write down the phrase- "Have a chance" to meet and greet".
This sounds completely out of what the Scorpions usually say and act with their fans.

To us, the guys aren't merchandise.

Besides, it seems that the fans would get divided in two parts : those who can afford that kind of business, and the other long time fans, who's been waiting at the gates at early morning for years ( that's how we proceed in France), who'll never have any chances, even to get near the stage ( will it really happen this way??), because the golden fans would already be there.

This is about small venues, small concert places like Lyon, Toulon, Tours, Rouen, Brussels etc.. Things are normally set so the most expensive tickets go to the seats and background places.
The normal places are already high ( because here small towns have their concert facilities ). What about the foreign fans who, each year, come in France to see the Scorpions, could they afford a 150,-€ upgraded tickets as well ?! In such venues, this is non-sense. Here, this is ethically speaking annoying.

Fans coming in France and Brussels, please, react.

Great that you take a stance Alize ..
Let me tell everyone that is close to $210 in USA currency ..
There are other ways to meet the band ,, i have had the good fortune of having several djs friends that have got me back stage b4 .
What shocks me is that these djs work for the stations that have abandoned playing any new Scorps songs or more variety of older classics since 1990's.
Yet management lets the promoters give these stations access to passes for their employees and staff and djs to use
Well the support for the band comes from US the real fans not the radios stations that have put the Scorps on the back burner for years ..
So why is it US loyal fans that buy the cds , dvds , tickets, shirts etc etc have to pay to meet the band we have supported for years while the employees and djs of radio stations that dont care a rats ass about the band until they get a chance to meet them for free get access to passes.
I stated back in 2004 that they could use any forum members user name along with a pass code as a way for US real fans to have free access to meet the band and that was ignored ..
This is just another way for Amend to put some extra cash in his pockets and the bands ,,
Its a copy of what took place here and in Canada in 2010 .. and with the band members getting virus and colds
dont expect to shake anyones hand or hug them .. because for your 150 eruos that wont happen .
How sad that the band has to copy what others are doing to make extra $$$$$
As others have said .. its not really about the fans ,, its about retiring with some extra money
Some ppl dont care about spending some good hard earned money to meet the band they love .
But for a quick fist pump and a quick group photo and your going to be ushered in and out like an assembly line thats sad !
Everyone can insult me for making this post but this is a young lady thats still in school and doesnt have the funds that us other folks have and im sure there are quite a few more here that are in the same situation,
From reading others post in the tour section ..
It ain't over til the fat lady diets

Dad, I don't have funds as well to pay 150 euro for meet and greet...and just make double if we both me and shark would like to go. 300euro... for these money I may buy both way avia ticket to visit my parents...or food for my cat for the whole year..IMO meet and greet should be for free..among the fans registered on the forum and maybe who pass the competition of scorps history knowledge.

Yep, I meant a challenge among die hard fans...to give a chance to meet the band not only to those who's got money, but to everyone.
To ask questions like which songs were never played live, how many times lady starlight was played live and so on.

On one hand I completely agree with you, paying to meet your favorite band isn't very cool. I did something similar to this in the USA a number of years ago, it was an auction for charity which seemed like a win-win for me as a Scorps fan and the charity.

However, while I find it really expensive - the convenience of it is hard to pass up. If you are doing it just for the chance of meeting the Scorps for 20-30 seconds, get your photo and move along you'll be very sad and disappointed. However, when you look at the whole package, you get the swag (t-shirt, etc), you get into the stadium ahead of others without having to wait for 12 hours or more outside - oh I've done that in winter in Canada! Brr!

So yeah, it's REALLY expensive. It's almost like buying your tickets from ticket brokers but at least the money is going to the Scorps to some degree. Is it fair for all the people who have the money to buy the best seats in the house? Nope. Has it always been that way? Seems like it. :(

Now I won't insult you Tom.
Fully agree with Alizée's, and your point of views.
Allthough I don't learn at a school anymore, and have a job with salary, I wouldn't, and couldn't pay so much money for just a micro-meeting the band.
Yep, there are many other ways to meet them, and they never reject the fans.

As I wrote in other (similar) topic if you don't like meet and greet for money you just don't go there. Nobody forces you to do it. You have another ways to meet the guys. So why are you so angry and against it??? It is totally band's right what to do.

Let's see this thing from the other side:
- you like Scorpions (or any other band);
- you'd like to have a photo with the band and get their autographs;
- you don't like to wait hours at airport/hotel/backdoor of the venue/signing sessions in big music stores etc;
- it doesn't matter will M&G be free or for money. you have enough money to pay for it.

So then explain to me why such people can't go to M&G??? Just because you don't want it???

+1

Also in a lot of the concerts I've been to, a big part of the first row was already occupied by people with passes, sure that if you had been hours and hours waiting you don't like it but thats not new. (nothing against it, if I had the chance to passes I'll do the same) But you have to resign yourself, because with or without the 150 euros it'll be probably the same.
She's some kind of wonderful

But it is unfair. Why forum members should be the first or for free??? You talk about true fans who support the band for many years and who stand in the first rows at the show. Ok, but there are such fans and they aren't members of this forum. Please tell me why forum members deserve to be first and must have a special and free access to the band??? I don't think it's just because they blame Bono from U2 for many years.

I am a student and I don't work now, so as you can imagine I don't have too much money. But... you can find a solution to that problem. I was working this summer in a job (12 hours a day) in a fruit company to be able to go to the scorpions shows, and I was really almost death when I finished the month I made there. Now I'm at school again but every week I give some lessons some hours after my classes to have money, too. Let's say that I'm not very happy and enthousiast to have to work again and again when I'm already tired and everything but... I recall that I'm doing that for what I want (see the Scorpions) and that costs something. And, it's not only about the Scorpions because as you might know, everything takes sacrifices.

After saying that, am I not a "good" fan any more just because I worked to find the 150€ and the money to pay me the ticket for the concert?

And about the people who have the passes being in the first row before you can enter, I can tell you that I am always waiting hours and hours before the shows and when I come into the venue usually the places near the stage are occupied... This is not the meet and greet that will change that. There's always people over there.

So, I'm very happy now that I could buy the meet and greet because my dream will come true and I've deserved it during all the hours I've been working for that.
You're sailing on a river, that becomes an ocean
