Still loving you… Hannover Airport is proud to officially call itself “HUB of the SCORPIONS”. The hard rock band from Hanover has enjoyed worldwide success for 60 years. The band members in the current line-up of Rudolf Schenker, Klaus Meine, Matthias Jabs, Mickey Dee and Pawel Maciwoda take off and land at HAJ whenever possible. Hannover Airport was and is an important part of their global success story. “Many happy landings” at HAJ over many decades.
HUB of the SCORPIONS
The band’s anniversary year can now be experienced at HAJ in a variety of ways. From the end of March, there will be interesting facts about the band and its history in the new “Rockstage” on the departure level in Terminal B. Exhibits, music, reading material and much more will bring the band’s history to life. Concert recordings and interviews from the last 60 years will also be shown.
SCORPIONS motifs in all terminals and throughout the campus will document HAJ’s connection with the band. Hannover Airport will also position the theme at national and international trade fairs. Further projects are planned at the airport. ‘Hannover Unesco City of Music’ and the rich variety of concerts of ‘Hannover Concerts’ will also be integrated thematically into the project.
“We are delighted to be able to present the history of the SCORPIONS directly at our home base HAJ to passengers, visitors and guests from all over the world. My Flying V guitars and our home airport Hanover – it’s a perfect match,” says band founder Rudolf Schenker.
Singer Klaus Meine is also convinced of the communication project: “The airport connects people, countries and cultures – that fits in well with our values and many of our songs. Landing at HAJ means ‘Coming Home’ for us every time.“
“The project is a good fit for our band. It is unique, just like our history. We are proud that an airport – and our home base at that – is so committed to the Scorpions,” emphasizes guitarist Matthias Jabs.
